Every Gift is a Blessing http://bethlayne.com/blog/2010/06/23/every-gift-is-a-blessing/ http://bethlayne.com/blog/2010/06/23/every-gift-is-a-blessing/#comments Wed, 23 Jun 2010 21:34:32 +0000 Beth Layne http://bethlayne.com/blog/?p=596 Although, it definitely may not seem so for the young medium, who constantly has ghosts around him, or even for the young clairvoyant, who is constantly seeing negative images, gifts are just that – gifts, and are never, ever a curse.

The law of attraction intensely applies to those who have spiritual gifts of any nature. It is extremely important, that you stay positive, if you want to be able to help others in a positive way. When the metaphysically gifted person becomes negative, all that can be seen or felt is negative.

Staying positive does not mean, however, that you will never see, experience, feel, or otherwise receive negative information, as we are given information in order to help. This is why learning the arts of grounding and detachment are essential to the well being of those who find themselves with gifts seemingly beyond their control. Learning techniques that help one ground themselves and detach themselves from the stream of information they receive is what brings more control.

Fear is the number one negative emotion that must be worked through. Being fearful, brings more to fear, as any other emotion constantly felt brings more of the same. Learning detachment and grounding will help in this area, but most important is to realize there is nothing to fear. The visions and feelings do not belong to you, and the ghosts are not here to frighten you. Compassion is the key.

Empaths and Addiction http://bethlayne.com/blog/2010/06/17/empaths-and-addiction/ http://bethlayne.com/blog/2010/06/17/empaths-and-addiction/#comments Thu, 17 Jun 2010 20:08:57 +0000 Beth Layne http://bethlayne.com/blog/?p=565 Taken from my upcoming ebook, Coping Strategies for Empaths.

A wide variety of vibrations are projected through the wide variety of creative outlets through which empaths release their emotions into the world. The emotion that the empath projects through their creative works, words, and, ultimately their vibration level, either helps to raise the total consciousness of our world, or keep it lower. There are those who are at all levels and stages within their awareness of their abilities as an empath. This “imbalance” actually helps to maintain balance in the vibration levels of our planet. All things and people are connected, therefore, as the higher vibrations rise, so do the lower vibrations rise.

If you are an empath, there is no doubt, that you are ultimately here for light work in some form. There are huge numbers of empaths on our planet during these times. We have literally come together as a team to bring the vibration levels of our planet to a higher state of consciousness.

Some empaths may have come into this lifetime, highly aware, and may have known from early ages the power of their emotion. Others may have “awakened” to what it all means at many different stages of life.

Typically the empath first comes into awareness, not by realizing the power of their own emotion through their own projection of it, but by realizing they are feeling the emotion of others around them. In cases where the gift of empathy is accompanied by the gift of mediumship, the empath may have realized they could feel the emotion of those who are no longer living, even before they may have realized they were also absorbing emotion from the living around them.

Many, though, even with the gift of empathy and mediumship combined, may still have taken a while to realize they were literally feeling the emotions of others. In this time of “sleeping” the risk for addictions for the empath is high. The risk is also high among those who are aware of this part of the gift of empathy, but see it as a curse with no escape, as they empath may look for ways to make it go away.

We have seen many, many empaths on our world stages, create, and reach massive audiences with whatever vibration they were projecting through their release of the emotion contained within them, and we have also watched many drug their way straight out of this world before our eyes. Beautiful, spirited, entertainers, who turned to drugs during some part of their path, and many, even though they may have been later more aware, found themselves still struggling with the addiction long after.

The absolute clearest I can be on this issue is, you can’t make it go away. You have it because you are to learn to work with it, and master the flow of your energy to join with others to help raise the consciousness of our world. As we wake up, we help others wake up.

There are many different coping strategies throughout your early levels of learning about your gift, and how to effectively cope with it, and do what you have ultimately come here to do with it. It is not a curse. It is, however, a great responsibility to have the gift of empathy, and very important that empaths learn to cope with and grow with the gift in a positive and healthy manner.

The emotion the empath absorbs must be released. The gift of empathy is always combined with a creative gift as well, as a means to cope with, and release emotions, but more importantly, with the empath who is aware, to help raise the vibration levels by reaching an audience with any and all of those creative gifts, and projecting positive emotion.

Here are a few pointers for keeping addiction at bay if you are an empath:

Remember this: Positive is the key to the happy empath. The happy empath projects positive emotion.

It is absolutely essential to keep in a positive environment, keep your mind positive, and deal with your emotion at the root level thereby turning it into a lesson rather than being reactive.

Let yourself be open and feel, and be aware of the reasons within you behind the feelings. This will lesson their power over you.

Be aware of when your emotion changes with your environment, and is not stemming from within you. Learn to follow the source of emotion through observation.

Meditate daily.

Practice deep breathing.

Stay away from negative people.

Find something to be grateful for in everything, everywhere.

Know what calms you and partake in it when you start to feel stressed or anxious.

Spend time in nature and often.

Use your creative outlets and flow from your passions. Do what you love.

And finally, realize that the emotion that is your own, within you, is a beautiful gift given to you as a guiding point to learn and grow from. Rather than resist it, be open to it and let it flow through you. What we resist, strengthens, so if you are resisting negative emotion, then it is only bringing more negative to you. Examine it, and get to the root source within you about why you feel the emotion, and work through it from there. Through this learning and growth process, the cause for the emotion is healed rather than given strength to continue to reoccur.

Breaking Through the Skin You’re In http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/18/breaking-through-the-skin-youre-in/ http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/18/breaking-through-the-skin-youre-in/#comments Sun, 18 Oct 2009 17:20:42 +0000 Beth Layne http://bethlayne.com/blog/?p=85 Do you know yourself? Do you know the spirit who lives within you and has chosen this shell, this skin you are in, to house it in this lifetime? Do you know why you have chosen this particular shell? To everything, and I do mean everything, there is a reason.

Take the time to get to know the real you. There is an incredible bright spirit that lives within you. That spirit is you. If you don’t already meditate, learn to. Learn to look at your shell from the inside out to understand who you have chosen to be in this life in order to achieve the growth and learning that you have come here to achieve.

We, as a whole, look from the outside in. We are programmed that way. The key is in reprogramming yourself to come from inside out. We are programmed to think of ourselves and view ourselves as a product of our “outside” world, or a product of our environment. What goes in from outside, combined with the gifts and tools we brought with us, becomes who we are. If you come, though, from the inside to the outside, you will come to see a beautiful difference. Your outside circumstances such as a neglected childhood, or other traumatic experiences, that you may feel have shaped who you are in a negative sense, become, instead, blessings, as you will start to see the underlying reasons for those situations or circumstances in your life.

You have chosen this shell because it fits in with the other tools, gifts, talents, obstacles, situations, and growth you chose to help you with achieving your mission or purpose, but it is truly not who you are. It is only part of the package you chose in order to have the best circumstances for success.

If you really want to get the most out of this life, get to know your shell. Really get to know your personality, positive and negative points. Overcome the negative by turning them into positives, and use the gifts, and the tools you’ve brought to make a positive difference in this world. We all can. It is no one’s choice but yours whether the difference you make is positive or negative.

Each and every person has brought a unique set of tools to work with. Your gifts or tools, are simply what you’re drawn to, and what things you do best. Other tools are things such as personality traits, life circumstances, special skills, or special areas of interest, and believe it or not, even obstacles.

I am not at all saying that everything in life is predestined. I am only saying that certain life situations are part of our greater plan to learn and grow from. What we do with it from there, is up to each one of us as individuals. We have free will to make choices and decisions that, most certainly, can and do, affect the outcome of our lives.

Living on the Flip Side http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/18/living-on-the-flip-side/ http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/18/living-on-the-flip-side/#comments Sun, 18 Oct 2009 17:16:54 +0000 Beth Layne http://bethlayne.com/blog/?p=83 Are you aware that right now, at this moment in time, you are creating your life and all you experience and see around you? Literally what you are thinking and feeling right now, and giving your focus to right now, is planting the seeds of your future for you.

Sure, we all know the choices and decisions we make affect the outcome of our lives through the consequences of our actions. What I am talking about, though, is very different than the seriousness of all those choices, decisions, and consequences.

I’m not talking about bad karma, good karma, or rewards for your just and proper life. I’m talking about real living. Living from your heart and the core of who you chose to be here, and what you’ve sent along with yourself here to create this life with.

Find a way to be grateful for each and every negative experience you have been through in your life. Through those experiences that you planned for yourself, you have grown to where you are. Each and every one of us can look back on every single negative thing we have been through, and find grace in it by acknowledging all we learned from those experiences. Thank our creator for allowing you to learn and grow from those experiences and release the hold they have on you. Say goodbye and be refreshed, no longer allowing them to “be who you are”. You are not your experiences. They were there for growth not to become one with.

Do not let others define who you are. Better yet, do not let yourself be defined at all! What do I mean by that? I run across many, many unhappy people who have lived a certain life because it was expected of them. I’ll give you an example. A rare and talented artist, for instance, who didn’t believe in his talent, miserably unhappy and not painting at all, striving in business, and surrounded by negativity crossed my path one day.

I am here for rescue, so when someone crosses my path like this, I know I am to pull them out. Through reading him, I discovered his talents lying dormant, and what his fears had created in his life through not living real. I helped him to see why he was given these gifts, helped him gain confidence, and point him in the right direction for living the life that will give him the pleasure that his spirit seeks here. He is now sharing that art with the world, and everything around him, and the support he so desperately has needed is falling in to place. He is now beginning to experience real living.

We are given gifts for a reason. That reason is to share, to bring others light, and hope, and to love using the gifts we brought with us to create a better world for ourselves and all those around us. No matter what your gifts, when you live from the heart, others will be touched.

Embracing Your Gifts http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/18/embracing-your-gifts/ http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/18/embracing-your-gifts/#comments Sun, 18 Oct 2009 16:46:40 +0000 Beth Layne http://bethlayne.com/blog/?p=69 We all have gifts. Do you know what yours are? I truly believe, right down to the moment we are born, and how that relates to our talents and gifts, is planned. I truly believe we assist with that planning. Our strengths, talents, and information about what drives us, can all be found in our astrological birth charts.

This is yet another benefit of meditation. Connecting with your higher self is essential to really know what purpose your talents and gifts bring. This is invaluable to help yourself through the challenges and blocks that stand in the way of your full potential in this life.

I believe also planned, are our weaknesses and what we must overcome for our own unique spiritual growth. Understanding those challenges helps us get through them . Getting through them means we are able to radiate our talents and gifts to help others, and use them for the benefit of all.

Most of us know what our gifts are, but may not use them. Many have blocks or fear associated with their gifts, or what I like to call “family programming” to overcome. Some just haven’t yet discovered how to get from point A to point B. Wherever you are on your spiritual path, there is always more to learn on every subject.

I believe we are happiest when using our talents and gifts to help others, and in doing so, we truly live the life of our dreams.

Accept Others as They Are http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/15/accept-others-as-they-are/ http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/15/accept-others-as-they-are/#comments Thu, 15 Oct 2009 19:38:26 +0000 Beth Layne http://bethlayne.com/blog/?p=64 One of the most important lessons we can learn in order to bring ourselves more happiness and less disappointments in our lives, is to accept others for who they are.

I see in my practice, constantly, others who make themselves truly miserable expecting another person to be someone they simply are not.

Albert Einstein once said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result!” Although, I am fairly certain, Mr. Einstein did not have this particular situation in mind at the time of his quote, I find it very fitting in this instance as well!

If you know every time you invite this certain friend to a social engagement, the person says they will come, and always finds they are unable to, then why are you so disappointed each time it happens? And why, do you take it so personally?

Perhaps the person you have invited has a social phobia they find embarrassing, and because everyone in his/her life has always pushed them on the issue, they are unwilling to tell anyone the true reason for their not coming, so they accept, thinking they will be able to brave it this time, and truly intend to try to go, but at the last minute, they panicked, and made an excuse and did not attend.

There are always reasons for behaviors, and rarely, are the reasons solely to hurt another. Most often, the reasons, are in fact, just as painful to the person who you feel is inflicting hurt upon you.

Another example, is that you trust another person over and over with information you really do not want others to know, thinking that this time the person can hold your confidence in the utmost of importance. You talk to this person, because you feel comforted in doing so, and are constantly hurt, when you find this person has broken your confidence.

Perhaps the person you told your secrets to over and over, is simply not able to keep secrets. Perhaps this person speaks out of concern for you, and needs to talk with someone because now they are worried, or they actually think they are helping you by telling others!

Or perhaps this person is here to learn valuable lessons in relationship to gossip or disloyalty. Whatever the reason, it’s time to stop expecting this person to be different than they are.

Each of us have strengths and weaknesses. We can always find other things about others that are rewarding, rather than expecting a strength where there is a weakness.

A great deal of unhappiness stems from expecting from others. What most do not realize, though, is this type of anger, disappointment, etc. does not stem from the other person. It stems from within.

If these types of situations are constantly happening to you, then it is time to go within and examine from there. Try learning to accept others for who they really are and delighting in their strengths, rather than expecting them to be someone they are not.

Through our love and compassion for others, our judgements and expectations that keep us caged, can be released.

What Was Meant to Happen Did http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/15/what-was-meant-to-happen-did/ http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/15/what-was-meant-to-happen-did/#comments Thu, 15 Oct 2009 19:35:13 +0000 Beth Layne http://bethlayne.com/blog/?p=62 Often, we may look back on situations, and find ourselves saying, “If I had just done this, then maybe this would have happened instead.”

While it is important to evaluate our choices and learn and grow from them, it is equally important to move past the choices we have made. The lesson needs to be taken, and the experience needs to be let go. We are here with free will, and to make choices through the manifestation of our thoughts to learn and grow through.

Had we not made the choices we made, what then, would there be to learn and grow through?

Take what you have here and now – the outcome – and grow from here. You can only start with now, as there is no future yet, and the past is gone. Make sure what you are doing right here and now, is creating a better situation for you.

The first place to start is by looking within. What speaks to your soul? Perhaps you love working with wood, and find you create from somewhere deep within you when you are given an opportunity to work with wood. Or maybe you are naturally drawn to children, and find being around them and helping and teaching them gives you a deep satisfaction.

Whatever arena it may be in, find your calling and follow your inner spirit. Learn to harness the power of your thoughts, and how to create your true life. Through living that true life, your life will have enormous power to bless others along your journey, including yourself.

Share Your Feelings While You Can http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/15/share-your-feelings-while-you-can/ http://bethlayne.com/blog/2009/10/15/share-your-feelings-while-you-can/#comments Thu, 15 Oct 2009 19:31:17 +0000 Beth Layne http://bethlayne.com/blog/?p=60 Never miss an opportunity to tell someone how special they are to you and how they have enhanced your life.

So, often, the grief of losing a loved one can be so overwhelming simply because we did not take the opportunity to tell them how we felt about them. We grieve deeply for that regret, and that fear that our loved one didn’t know just how special they were to us.

Let me assure you. They know. They are still with you and are still very much a part of your life. They love you and they want you to be at peace.

You can still tell them. They can hear you.

It is for our own sakes, that we share our feelings with others while we have the opportunity to do so, as well as for our loved ones.
