Every Gift is a Blessing
Although, it definitely may not seem so for the young medium, who constantly has ghosts around him, or even for the young clairvoyant, who is constantly seeing negative images, gifts are just that – gifts, and are never, ever a curse.
The law of attraction intensely applies to those who have spiritual gifts of any nature. It is extremely important, that you stay positive, if you want to be able to help others in a positive way. When the metaphysically gifted person becomes negative, all that can be seen or felt is negative.
Staying positive does not mean, however, that you will never see, experience, feel, or otherwise receive negative information, as we are given information in order to help. This is why learning the arts of grounding and detachment are essential to the well being of those who find themselves with gifts seemingly beyond their control. Learning techniques that help one ground themselves and detach themselves from the stream of information they receive is what brings more control.
Fear is the number one negative emotion that must be worked through. Being fearful, brings more to fear, as any other emotion constantly felt brings more of the same. Learning detachment and grounding will help in this area, but most important is to realize there is nothing to fear. The visions and feelings do not belong to you, and the ghosts are not here to frighten you. Compassion is the key.
The Work of a Medium
Messages come through to mediums in various different ways from the other side. They tend to come through in the best way to get the messages through the messenger. They will use whatever means available through the medium in order to either validate themselves, or in other cases, get specific messages through. For instance, one may see symbols that have specific meaning to him/her, and know to automatically say a certain thing, one may actually hear the spirits, or see them in the mind’s eye, or even as if they are standing before them. What we see/hear/feel, we describe, therefore allowing you to be able to validate the spirits who are coming through. Many times we are given specific information that only the person the message was intended for knows. In those cases, the validation is powerful, but it doesn’t mean any other means or information that comes through should not allow you to validate the spirit.
On the other side, from their perspective, their goal is to validate themselves in any way they are able to as quickly as possible. They are not able to stay for long periods of time, so there are sometimes, the energy might pull away if the spirit is not validated after several attempts.
Although most people who go to a medium for a spirit reading are hoping for a specific person to come through for them, if you are having a general spirit reading, I highly suggest coming to the reading with a very open mind. I suggest this, because if not, you may miss validating spirits that do come through. Especially because in many cases, the spirits will come through together, and the strongest energy will lead, so sometimes, there is a need to validate the “front liner” so that the others may follow.
If you are hoping for a particular person, then I highly suggest that the reading is targeted as such with a reader who will ask for something specific in order to work with the specific energy such as something that belonged to the person, a picture, or whatever the medium is able to work through and with to pull that specific energy of that specific person through. Many readers do both specific readings as well as general readings.
There are also other types of mediums who work directly with spirits who have not yet crossed to the other side, or in some cases, the spirit has crossed. The major point is the focus is different. The readings in this case are done for those who are left behind after a loved one has been a victim, or law enforcement. The medium works directly with the spirit to bring vital information to the family as well as law enforcement to bring justice, and/or closure.
You will also see mediums who work only with those who are stuck here as ghosts, in efforts to rescue them, or free them and help them cross to the other side. And, of course, there are also those who work in all the spirit realms mentioned above.
Most though, are drawn to a certain area of work with the spirit world depending on what their themes or purposes are for this life time. For instance, one who is here for healing, you will find mostly working with those left behind doing spirit readings. Those that are here for justice will feel more aligned in working with law enforcement.
Some mediums, however, do work with all realms of the spirit world. An example of a medium who does, is one who is here for rescue. You will often find these mediums in all facets, working with the spirit world and this world in any way that brings “rescue” of any type. Another example would be one who is here to validate the different realms.
What is important to remember no matter what type of reading or help you seek from a medium, is this: The messenger is never the message. The messenger is merely a channel that is able to be used in order to pass messages between here, the other side, and the space between us.
Messages from Spirit
A medium or a spirit medium is a channel through which messages flow through from those who are either on the other side or stuck here as ghosts. There are many different types of mediums who channel many different variations and types of different vibration levels including those who can bring messages through from all vibration levels. Also varied are the many different ways the messages are received. Some may receive smells, symbols, hear names, words, and other information, actually see the ghost or spirit before them and/or in the mind’s eye, see scenes, or any variation of those and more, utilizing whatever means and senses available to the medium that can accomplish getting their message through.
Often the messages I receive make no sense to me whatsoever, but the important thing is, they have deep or special meaning to the person the message is for. I never question the messages I get from spirit when I am doing a spirit reading. It is not my job to understand the messages. It is my job to pass them to the person or persons they are intended for.
Involving the analytical mind in the process of receiving causes confusion, and also wastes precious time in the receiving process, especially when receiving messages from those on the other side. It takes a great deal of energy for them to come through, thus they can only stay for brief periods. For these reasons, I long ago learned to set “me” aside.
When having a spirit reading with a medium, it is important that you honor any and all messages or spirits that come through for you (even if it wasn’t the one you were hoping for), as all messages are given for the benefit of healing and growth, and are given in the highest form of love.
Many times people seek out a spirit medium to find truth in a situation involving a loved one who has passed. Often the truth may be hard to hear. Please know in these cases, the messages are still for your healing and growth, and accept them with the love in which they were sent.
My strongest gifts are those of mediumship and empathy. My work is not always easy, but is truly very gratifying. I am so grateful to be able to help in the healing processes of others, and welcome all who feel lead to me.
An Unexpected Message
About a year ago, a client and friend booked me for an evening of readings in her home. She had several friends from work who wanted to have readings. None of them had ever had a reading, and all thought they would feel more comfortable having readings one on one throughout an evening with friends.
I arrived for the appointment a little late and a little stressed. I am the mother of three children, two of whom are affected by autism. Sometimes evening appointments can be really challenging to get to, as autistic children like for things to be the same and on the same schedule. I felt blessed that this client was also a close friend who knew my struggles and challenges, and I felt certain had conveyed them.
Upon arriving, I said hello to everyone, and of course, apologized for being late, set myself up in the room they wanted me in, and began to meditate to release all the energy that was my own, ground myself, and ask for guidance. I asked, as I always do, to be made a vessel of light and to be given information to help, inspire, and enlighten the people who would be coming in one by one that evening.
All ready for the first reading, I walked back down the hall to see who would be going first. As everyone looked up to see me appear in the doorway, a woman stood and said, “I have to go first you guys. We are really going to fight tonight if he has to keep the kids very long for me to do this!” Everyone laughed, and I said, “Well, then, I guess you’ll be going first!”
We sat down, got comfortable, and I asked her what type of reading she was hoping for. She told me she was hoping for just an overall type reading, and was also hoping there might be someone who would come through for her during the reading from the other side. She said she would be excited to hear from anyone, as she had many loved ones who had already crossed.
With that I began the reading, giving her information about various events and such that I saw in her future, describing people, and answering her questions. We were just about to wrap up, when I felt the shift of energy, and ringing sensation in my ears that signals to me there is someone coming through to communicate.
I described for her the two spirits I saw – what they looked like, what their personalities were like, and how they had died, and told her, “The female is saying she is Mom and he is saying he is Dad, but I get the feeling they are not.” I gave her the female’s name, and described a ring the male showed me, to which she informed me, “You have my mother and father in-law.”
I gave her the messages they had specifically for her, feeling and seeing the release of her emotion that such communication always brings when information is given that validates beyond a doubt the further existence of loved ones lost.
Then, a dog seemed to come out of nowhere, running all around me, stopping for a moment, and then going back from where he came. I described the dog as a retired police dog or a German Sheppard to my client, describing the dog in full detail, and asked her if she knew the dog. She said she didn’t, but she thought her husband had a dog like I was describing as a child. I felt the energy of all who were visiting pulling back, and as they were leaving I heard, “Tell him we love him and we have Buddy!”
I told her, “They want your husband to know they love him and that Buddy is with them. Please tell him that.”
“I will.” She said. “I don’t know the name of his dog from childhood, but I can’t wait to get home and tell him about this and about Buddy. He doesn’t believe there is anything after death, and he wasn’t very happy about my getting a reading. He says it’s all hogwash!”
I hugged her, bid her well, and received the next client.
The next day, bright and early, I received a call from the dear lady who had gotten a surprise visit from her in-laws the evening before. She was in tears as she was telling me her husband’s reaction to the message and validation he had received through his mother naming his childhood friend. His life direction had been completely turned around, overnight, by one simple sentence from the other side.
The messages that need to come through always do.
