Why Do I Smell Grandma Every Night?

Q. My grandma died almost 3 years ago and every night before I fall asleep all I can think of is the smell of her house. It smelled like vanilla, camay soap and perfume. I swear I can almost smell it, it makes me so sad. I can’t stop thinking about that smell. What do you tell people that makes them feel better? My parents divorced and I lived with my dad next door to my grandma so she was like a mother all those years. We were really close. It’s not like some kind of ghost thing, it’s a smell, or the memory of a smell. What’s up with that? I just wondered if other people go through this type of thing. It’s weird.

A. Your grandmother visits you often right before you fall asleep at night. She is tucking you in! She sends the smell to let you know she is there because she knows she is the only person you associate it with! When you smell “her smell” she is visiting you, and just wants you to know she is with you.

Is Grandpa Joe Really Talking to My Daughter?

Q. I have recently had my Grandfather who I was very close with pass away in December. I have a 2 year old daughter who seemed to have a very strong bond with her Grandpa Joe. After he had passed we were at the cemetary and as we were leaving she told me ” Grandpa Joe talked to me” I asked what he had said but her words were not so clear. Is it possible for a child so young to have had that connection really happen and that she talks of him everyday and says he is her Angel and could she still have a possible connection with him?

I also wonder is there signs we miss or can only certain people see them because I feel that my Grandmother wonders if he is ok and seem so discouraged she has had no signs. Is there ways to look for signs or anything to help comfort her that He is okay?

A. Yes! Your daughter does see him and talk with him! It is much easier for a child her age to have that connection with the other side, than an adult, as children still see and remember the other side for the first few years of life. As they become more involved in life here, the ability fades as their focus becomes more outward and less inward. For some, though, this ability never disappears. Your daughter will retain this ability throughout her life.

Yes! Signs are available to all. Sometimes when we are still stricken with grieving emotions, they can be harder to realize.

Your grandfather is near you all, but especially near your grandmother, as she is having the most difficulty without him. He is most definitely okay, and is happy on the other side. He sends birds near a window where your grandmother often sits. There is also a smell that is associated with only him that he sends near her, and he also visits in dreams. He puts pennies in your path.

Pennies From Heaven

Q. I had a reading with a medium once during a very stressful time in my life. My father had been gone for about a year, and I so needed to know he was with me. The medium told me to pay attention, because he had been trying to communicate with me all along through the “lucky” pennies I had been finding every where. It was true I had been saying to others how lucky I had been lately, because I kept finding pennies everywhere always facing heads.

I started putting them in a jar labeled “pennies from heaven”, and after about two weeks I stopped finding them everywhere! Is he still here?

A. Yes! He is still with you! The stress in your life eased because you became aware of his being near. You acknowledged your awareness of his presence, so there was no need for him to continue to try to get your attention.

He also uses the smell of a cigar to let you know he is there!

Waking at 3 a.m.

Q. You mention in one of your blogs that waking often between 3 and 4 a.m. is a strong sign you are a medium. I have always done this. Why?

A. The veil between here and the other side is thinnest between 3 and 4 a.m. You sense or feel the spirit energy and it wakes you.

Can Ghosts See Us?

Q. Can ghosts see us?

A. Yes and No. Ghosts who are aware they have died can see us. Those who are not aware they have died, may not be able to until they are aware.

Is His Mother's Ghost Haunting Him?

Q. My neighbor’s house has a presence they can’t explain. They smell certain dishes in their home being cooked that only his mother made, and always at odd times. It might not happen for quite a while, but then it will happen again. Is his mother haunting their home?

A. No. His mother isn’t haunting their home. She has crossed to the other side, and is a spirit, not a ghost who is trapped here. When they are smelling these smells only associated with her, she is visiting, and just letting them know she is with them. She sends these particular smells, as they automatically associate them with her.
